Coming to Reno, Nevada next week, if you love magic and love weed, a treat awaits. But otherwise, 2023’s fantastic national tour is just getting started.
Smokus Pocus is a weed-themed magic show, and the smoke in the show is real, not magical, and there are plenty of them.In fact, lucky spectators may even be able to take home a piece of magic
Ben Zavin, 24, from New York and creator of Smokus Pocus. He dropped out of college a year after he sold some weed and played magic on cruise ships before moving to Portland, Oregon.
Shortly afterward, a pandemic struck and Zabin started thinking of ways to combine his favorite magic with the magic of cannabis. So he decided to combine ancient magical practices with cannabis plants that are thousands of years old, and Smokus Pocus was born.
“The idea of a weed-themed magic show has been on my mind for a long time,” Xavin told the Reno Gazette-Journal (RGJ). , I received COVID unemployment benefits and decided to move out of sight to Portland, Oregon to launch Smokus Pocus.”
Oregon legalized recreational cannabis in 2014, and Nevada did the same in a 2016 vote, so it worked out for Xavin. That said, it does make me wonder how he transports his main prop from Portland to other legal states, since cannabis is illegal at the federal level.
“Traveling with Weed can be a little complicated, but as a magician, I have a secret,” Xavin told RGJ.
Welcome to Reno: “We’re thrilled to have Smokus Pocus back at The Theater,” fellow illusionist Kevin Jeffrey told RGJ. “Ben is a sensible producer and an incredibly talented performer who knows his audience well.Magic has been very difficult to theme his shows and he deserves all the success.” ”
Ben Zabin’s Smokus Pocus will be at Reno’s The Theater on January 27th.
Smokus Pocus can be caught year-round in other US cities.
