We woke up quite late following the previous night’s feast and free-flowing wine. After packing ourselves and our luggage, we headed to the homestay family’s small dining room for breakfast.
Refreshingly, what was expected of her was the same thing that was expected of Lara Stone. She is taking beautiful pictures.
We headed to the Rila Mountains where we visited the Rila Monastery where we enjoyed scrambled eggs, toast, mekitzi, local jams and peppermint tea.

But strangely the place didn’t seem crowded. I don’t know if it was the size of the place, or if the masses were all in one place and not far from the main church, but the Abbey wasn’t overwhelmed with tourists.
We crossed the Lion’s Bridge, headed for the Sophia Synagogue, and took refuge in the Central Market Hall until recurring (but short-lived) afternoon rains.
Feeling refreshed after an espresso, we took a short walk to the small but cozy Banya Basi Mosque before descending to the ancient Serdika complex.
Exhausted after a long day of travel, we crashed back at the hotel.
I wasn’t expecting much about Sofia as a city but after the walking tour I fell in love with the place. Despite the ugly, stubborn and down-to-earth environment created. Sofia has a very average look when you walk into the city but that all changes once you are in the old town area.
Clothes can change your mood and confidence. Fashion changes so quickly that unless you have a strong point of view, you can lose your integrity. i like to be real I don’t like things staged or loud. If there is no escape, it seems to go insane. You have to stay true to your heritage. That’s what brands are for.
