Elon Musk apologized for his conspiracy theory about the attack on the former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi husband, Paul Pelosi.
On Saturday, one of his supporters asked if he should apologize for his remarks about attacking Pelosi.
Last October, Paul Pelosi was assaulted at his San Francisco home. He was attacked with a hammer and reportedly underwent surgery for a fractured skull and injuries to his right arm and hand.
After the attack, Musk tweeted, “There’s a small chance there’s more to this story than meets the eye.” He attached a link to one of the articles falsely claiming that Paul Pelosi’s attacker was a lover he met at a bar in the middle of the night.
However, he deleted the tweet shortly after posting.
When a Twitter user asked Musk what he was apologizing for, Musk replied with a screenshot of the now-deleted tweet.
On Friday, body cam footage of the attack on Pelosi was released. Footage shows police arriving at Pelosi’s home to find Pelosi fighting over the hammer with alleged assailant David DePape.
In the video, both Paul Pelosi and DePappe appear to have their hands on the hammer, with DePappe holding Pelosi’s arm as the police officer opens the door.
Saturday, former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger called out Musk for spreading false claims about the incident.
He tweeted and asked Musk to react to Pelosi’s video.
