Australian data was released at the end of January.
The quarterly CPI for January 25 was 1.9% quarter-on-quarter and 7.8% year-on-year.
Monthly CPI Worse at +8%:
Quarterly CPI data points are more complete than monthly data, but monthly data are (naturally) displayed more often and used as a reasonable guide. It is also featured on the front page of the Reserve Bank of Australia website.
The next quarterly print will not be published until April, but the next monthly print will be published on Wednesday, March 1st. Of note, the RBA has found itself catching up with inflation. Two inflation shocks of 7.8% and 8.4% on 25th January confirmed the rate hike obtained from the Reserve Bank of Australia on 7th February. Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Lowe said in recent testimony that he expects another rate hike of +25bp in March, but his CPI data due next week will be watched nonetheless.
As we get closer to Wednesday, we should have more information on the CPI.Data expiry date
